How it works?

1. Register

Complete the registration form to request online psychotherapy.

2. Assessment interview

We’ll schedule an online interview with a psychologist (approx. 45 minutes). During this session we’ll clarify your therapy goals, answer any questions, and gather more information about your concerns.

3. Begin therapy

If therapy is recommended, you can start either fully online or in person - sessions in Utrecht practice.

4. Progress reviews

At regular intervals — every 10 or 20 sessions as specified in your treatment plan — we’ll jointly evaluate your progress and adjust the plan if needed.

6. Conclusion

Therapy ends when agreed goals have been met, the session plan is complete, or at your request.

What therapeutic methods do we use?
Our approach is grounded in evidence-based medicine (EBM) and evidence-based practice (EBP). We draw on proven methods from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and schema therapy.

Within CBT, we apply well-established and scientifically tested treatment protocols. For trauma processing, we use EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an evidence-based method designed to help individuals work through distressing experiences effectively.

Who do we work with?

We provide CBT psychotherapy, which has been shown to be highly effective, especially for anxiety disorders and depression. Its benefits are also recognized for bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, specific phobias, PTSD, sleep disorders, and other personality disorders.

We work with adults and adolescents and are proud to be LGBTI+ friendly, providing a safe and inclusive environment for all clients.

Who do we not work with?

For certain complex situations that require specialized, multidisciplinary care, we are unfortunately unable to provide treatment. This includes:

  • Major depressive disorders with high risk
  • Suicidal crises or active suicide plans
  • Severe addictions
  • Severe eating disorders
  • Severe aggression
  • Legal or criminal issues

If you are experiencing any of these challenges, we encourage you to seek support from specialized care providers who can offer the safest and most effective help.

If you are in suicidal crisis right now please contact your health provider, 112 emergency line or 113.nl.

Quality guarantee

Our psychologists are members of the Dutch Institute of Psychologists (Nederlands Instituut van Psychologen - NIP). This means they meet strict professional standards, stay up to date with best practices, and follow ethical guidelines. In the rare case of a complaint, the NIP also acts as a neutral mediator to ensure your concerns are addressed fairly.

Why Choose Private Therapy?

  • Personalized care: Our psychologists carefully match their expertise to your needs, so you get the support that works best for you.
  •  Flexible approach: Therapy isn’t limited by insurance rules, allowing us to focus fully on your progress.
  •  Greater privacy: Without insurance involvement, your personal and medical information stays completely confidential.
  • Potential tax savings: Therapy costs can often be claimed as medical expenses on your annual tax return.

The effectiveness of online Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Research shows that online CBT can be just as effective as traditional in-person therapy. In addition, it offers several practical benefits:

  • Cost and time-efficient: No need to travel means savings on both time and money.
  • Environmentally friendly: Fewer trips to the clinic help reduce your carbon footprint.

Why your online therapist should be in your country of residence?

Having a therapist based in your country brings extra support and understanding:

  • Local healthcare know-how: They know the ins and outs of the healthcare system and can guide you when needed.
  • Understanding expat challenges: They’re familiar with the issues that come with living abroad and adapting to a new environment.
  • Awareness of the local job market: They can relate to work-related concerns you might face.
  • Cultural insight: They understand local customs and the Dutch cultural context, helping therapy feel more relevant.
  • Practical assistance: They can help navigate contacts with local institutions if necessary.
